I did a search and checked the FAQ, but couldn't find the specific instructions on how you save a session to disk. Also, I may be sending the disk to a ptlePC user. Finally, when you put a CD in to use a backed up session, how do you open it, just click and Pro Tools opens? Sorry if this is too basic of a question! Thanks ahead of time!

you can save a session on cd just drag the session folder to the cd, and burn if before ejecting the cd. Then when you want to verify the session, or open it again you have to copy the folder from the cd to your hardive, (drag the folder fom the cd to HD)then open it from the HD. Just remember you won't get a huge session on one cd. As far as opening a mac made session from a CD to a pc, might be more difficult but i'm sure it's possible, just make sure you check the mac/pc enforcement option when you create the session. hope this helps

choosing "file"/"save session copy" and check the copy audio-files and fade-files and enforce pc/mac will copy everything to a new folder.

If you want to save all the automation, plug-in's etc, then save the entire session folder to disc. It's best if your sessions are SDII files, but it's not imperative. if you just want to send the audio files, select all and go to the audio drop down window (to the right of the edit screen, use the double arrow bottom right to open and close the side window) and choose "Export selected as files) save them as SDII files, create a new folder, and burn this folder to disc as DATA. The user on the receiving end can import these directly into a PT session that has the same bit rate, sample size and file type, (ie: 24 bit 48k SDII) This method makes the total file size much smaller in most cases. Hope this is helpful.
