IDE & Firewire options

I'm trying to decide on some drive options for Audio, Video and SFX library. My original idea was to go with 3 120gb firewires. Now that I've maxed out my 20gb's internal G4 AGP, I'm thinking to start with one large and fast IDE to help my internal burden's ... and then go Firewire for Audio and Video storage. Any thoughts? 1- What are today's proven IDE's and Firewire drives? 2- Also where can I find the best pricing deals?

FWIW you can install a total of 3 internal drives into your G-4. One above the current drive that is ATA bus 0 slave, and a thrid in the slot where the zip bay is(under the DVD/CD drive) that is ATA bus 1 slave. For firewire, we built our own firewire dock (colplete with Oxford 911 chipset) with 2-40gb drives(you can put any drive size you choose that is available) for under $300. The enitre unit takes about 30 minutes to assemble, is externally powered so it doesn't draw from the firewire buss, and is about the size of a medium hardcover book. You can put any ATA drive in it, and if you use PT approved for recording drives you can record directly to it from PT. You can put together the drive dock and two 40gb holders for under $300. Each add'l carrier and 40gb drive is under $100. The drive carriers are hot swappable. It is universal voltage too as I recall. No 10,000rpm coming down the pike any time soon right? 7200 is okay even though the SCSI folks are up to 15,000??? Anyway where can I get a nice deal on these drives (IDE & Firewire) ... I'm ready to buy at least one, right now! Thanks

Do any of the larege (120gb) IDE' s come hire than 7200rpm? Best Buy had a Western Dig at about $250. Is this the way to go? I forgot to mention that I do have the zip drive (that I'll keep) ... so that'll be one internal IDE and 2 external firewire's for me. Thoughts?
