I am seeing excellent stable low latency performance using the latest alpha-pre 6 with my UAD-2 Quad. Unlike the UAD-1, the new UAD-2 architecture (hardware/software/drivers) is able to use REAPER's unique Anticipative FX mode exclusively (no need for Synchronous FX and/or UAD-1 Synchronous FX modes anymore) allowing for crackle free playback at the lowest possible latencies when using UAD-2 plugins. Here I am using my Delta 66 audio card at it's lowest ASIO sample buffer (64) in a 32/44 mixed DSP/native FX project. I am using the DSP equivalant of about (5) UAD-1 cards (or a UAD-2 Duo) along with a slew of native FX & softsynths. In addition, I am input monitoring a track and tracking a guitar part (into a 1176LN/Nigel FX Chain). The native CPU cores are scaling fairly evenly into the upper 70's-low 80's with no pops/clicks/crackles or dropouts. I then set up a project loop region, on the fly, and let it continously loop, for about an hour. It remained perfectly glitch/gap free even while changing loop regions, screensets & zooming in/out repeatedly! After hundreds of hours using the UAD-2 with REAPER (including the release builds), I have only had one REAPER/UAD-2 related crash. It was related to inserting a UAD-2 Plate 140 into a REAPER Project @ 64 samples. It caused the UAD-2 card to crash, requiring a cold re-boot. I later found out through UA tech support that this is a known issue (inserting the UAD-2 Plate 140 plugin into any DAW VST host @ 64 samples causes the card to crash) and has been fixed in the forthcoming v5.2 update. So until then, I would advise against inserting the UAD-2 Plate 140 into a project @ 64 samples. Cheers, Billy Buck

Nice, yesterday I ordered a Quad (always waiting to the last minute!...). But how is that in the first photo you are using the UAD-1 also? Don't you have problem with anticipative fx if you use UAD-1?

Universal Audio was nice enough to supply me with a UAD-2, and I too have seen awesome performance using it with anticipative FX on, default settings, which is fantastic.. and this is on my 8 core box.. Mmmmmmmm.

This is certainly a dream come true. Reaper+UAD2Quad, add good DAC, good monitors and good room acoustics and you get a "$500.000 not so many years ago" studio. (I will add: add Nebula3 for reverbs but that's another discussion)

I take it the quadcore issues still exist?

It sounds like there may be a buffer related parameter/option/setting that needs to be tweaked somewhere. Just to be sure I was not missing anything, after reading your post I went ahead and loaded a 16 track audio only project placed a 88rs/1073 FX chain on each track. Placed a 33609/1081 FX chain on the master and for good measure created an FX send from the snare track to a bus with a RE-201. I tested playback @ 1024 & 128 using play/stop & play/pause repeatedly with no obvious added extraneous audio artifacts that I can tell. Cheers, Billy Buck
