Is there a need for YV12 2D Cleaner?

Hi all, I have been using Kiraru's AVISynth 2.5 compatable port of Jim Casaburi's 2D Cleaner filter. I like it very much, but am concerned that it only supports YUY2 input. So this is a little confusing for me. Isn't the point of AVISynth 2.5 to conserve the YV12 colorspace? Also, I have noticed more life-like colors with the preservation of YV12, which I think is its biggest benefit. Speed is always helpful though. So going back to my title, is there a need for a YV12 input in 2D Cleaner? Does anyone else use it alot? I think its most helpful on anime/cartoon sources though. Maybe I'll try to e-mail Kiraru after I ask my Japanese friends to translate for me ;) Sincerely, Dali

marc fd's deen filter has two 2D modes built-in (a2d,m2d) that can achieve results very similar to 2d cleaner, if that's what you want try deen("a2d",4,9,0,0)

hmmm, i have used Convolution3D and found that it gives great results. But i wasn't trying 2.5 / yv12 color space, im using yuy2. Reason being that huffyuv doesn't have yv12 yet (or at least i don't think it does, I know -h was trying to code it, pretty sure he never released, please tell me otherwise). But anyway, convo3d produced good results on a raw (anime) with a good bit of noise.

I like 2dcleaner more than c3d or SSHiQ. jayel

Dali Lama... i too use the 2d cleaner by casaburi... i've been experimenting with deen all night but haven't tried that setting there... (anime) and yes i can't get the same results as with casaburi's filter... i HOPE it eventually will take yv12...

!!!! \o/ that's a great news SILICON !!! i'll test this evening :D i was so depressed with the yuy2 only version ;_; btw, i would not recommend the use of 2DCleaner on HQ anime (recent dvd source) it's way too destructive (filtering is bad moo moo ;) ) damn ... the readme is the same as the old YUY2 :/
