001 and video games(audio)

I have WINXP Pro, a VooDoo3dfx graphic card, dvd-rom, cd-rom, cdr/rw, 512 MB.... PTLE runs perfect. I want to be able to play video games, listen to cds, watch movies all from this one computer. A couple of things, recommendations on what video card(s) to get and which to avoid. Second, recommendations on how to set up the audio signal path. I would like it to end up on the 001, probably channels 3-4 for the monitor mode(surround is not needed). When I try to play cds, they say the audio device is in use by another device...or something to that effect. I'm kinda touchy about "exploring" my computer - I just got it fixed recently and I don't want to undo the work my friend put into it. Thank you to all. Erik

Erik, I've done the wavedriver thing and I also have two other sound cards on my system other than 001. Imagine that three sound cards on one system. Try doing that with a Mac. LOL Here is another really simple solution. Get 1/8 to 1/4" adapter splitter and hook from the second sound card to Digi 3 and 4 in on the back of I/O box. Then hit Monitor Mode button on the front of 001. Should send signal directly to your monitors or amp. if you are using passive monitors. Will that work? I can't remember if that monitor mode works with 3,4 in. Hmmmmmmmm. Read up on that. It worked for a few guys in here. Just another idea. Allen
