i was wondering what is the rarity satus of the manual v6's. its not for the whole car its just i might want a bellhousing in the future to go onto a b280 and im unsure of how easy it would be to get hold of one. maybe rupert will read this? how hard was it to get the one for your 760?
Hi a couple of months ago I got the numbers of 200 series on DVLA register. See earlier postings. The 264s left on the register are: 264 DL 8 264 DL Auto 2 264 GL 1 and 1 SORN 264 GL Auto 14 and 8 SORN 264 GLE Auto 35 and 17 SORN and the 264 TE Auto is extinct according to their list. I hope that helps. If you want the full list then PM me your email. Cheers Ken
Very, very, very rare. Manual V6's were only ever available in B27/B28 guise and as such only came on 260's and pre 1986 760's. It was a no cost option on the 760 but take up was so low that Volvo dropped it from 1986 and never bothered to re-engineer it for the B280's launch in 1987. It was more popular in the 260, but that was discontinued in 1984 so most are dead by now. All in all I've only ever seen 3 manual 760 V6's and about 5 260's, but the last one I saw was about 3 years ago and that was a 760. The V6 cars are percieved as luxury cars so the manuals are not desireable and didn't really sell new, let alone 2nd hand. Ben O'Brien in Ireland had a V6/M46 bellhousing from an incredibly rare 262C, but whether it's still available or not I don't know. I was lucky and found one about 3 years ago in a scrapyard. I suggest if you are even vaguely thinking about a manual conversion to snap up the first one you find as another may not come along. You should always be able to sell it on if you decide not to use it.
I notice 265s are not on the list. A friend had one with an M46 overdrive box, but he sold it last year to someone who wanted it for banger racing, before he realised I would have taken it.

Well mate your luck is in... In my workshop i have an M46 out of my B27E'd 262C i scrapped last year. I have the complete box and shifter etc but if you like i can seperate the bellhousing and post it? Let me know, Cheers Ben
Oh and thanks for the reference V6 Man i didnt even see it until re reading the posts! Funnily enough this is actually the 2nd V6 manual i owned, i had a UK plated rusty as hell 265 estate a few years back but unfortunately never kept the box when i scrapped it! Its amazing really how i came across two over here among our scarcely populated 200 series community and tyhere is so little available in the uk, That 262C was very rare but also riddled with the tin worm, would have been lovely for someone with an infinite budget but not for me im afraid, gone to the volvo scrapyard in the sky now.. Still hopefully its rare bits can carry on in the body of another volvo, I had thought of putting the running gear into the 242 but it would be a bit of a mismatch, i much prefer the idea of the T5 engine avec M90 and LSD!
