From this post : Hi Id like to use reaper for live performances (electronic music/pattern loops etc), and I just discovered the SHIFT TIME SELECTION (left or right) action. This is exactly what I need, EXCEPT when I move the selection, Reaper often misses the first note. I've enabled SMOOTH SEEKING of course, and I do the shift on say, beat 2 (and it still has to go to the 4th one in the current time selection before it goes to the next one, so it's not like it doens't have time to do so). Can this be solved ? Thanks
Got the same issue from 3.x version until the newest 4.15. Often REAPER drops midi events on the first bar just after removed time/loop selection, but only if I do it during playback or loop recording. The more tracks and events played simultaneously, the more events drop at first bar after remover time/loop selection. It occurs not only in playback/record mode but also when I render project after changing time/loop selection and not playing through this `gap` in midi events, and it`s no good!
Hi Well I guess I could record something yes. I just insert synth1 (or any other one), put say, continuous eighth notes, in a 4 beats pattern. Duplicate this pattern. Then, with "smooth seeking" enabled, shift right (by time selection length). Skips notes almost every time here (usually the first note of the measure), especially when you shift selection when the play cursor is over the first half of the measure. Hope this helps.
I ran in to this same bug while using the action "Regions: Go to next region after current region finishes playing (smooth seeking)" The first MIDI note is cut short. *Bug is present using a virtual instrument or an external MIDI instrument *Raising the audio buffer size to 512 fixes the problem. (I've tried 2 different pro soundcards and the bug is present using both - with 256 buffer sizes - perfect for real-time playing - no clicks or pops). *This is happening consistently in a project with only one track with a couple of MIDI notes on it. Reaper v2.261
I'm going to post this bug report. Please try to reproduce it and let me know if I've missed anything or if my wording could be improved. Bug Report: Under certain circumstances, smooth seeking cuts out first MIDI note REAPER FILE ATTACHED How to reproduce 1. ENABLE: prefs/editing behaviour/LINK LOOP POINTS TO TIME SELECTION 1. ENABLE: prefs/seeking/SEEK ON LOOP POINT CHANGE 2. ENABLE: prefs/seeking/PLAY TO NEXT PROJECT MARKER, END OF CURRENT REGION, OR START OF NEXT REGION, BEFORE SEEKING 3. prefs/devices/ASIO conf - set audio buffer size to <256 samples 4. PLAY the project from the beginning 5. Before playback reaches the end of the first region, press [shift]+[>] to shift the time selection/loop points to the right 6. Notice the first note of region 2 is lost Other circumstances where this bug is present - When using markers instead of regions - When using the action: Go to next region after current region finishes playing (smooth seeking) - When using the action: SWS: Goto/select next marker/region This only happens when seeking one region to the right. i.e. seeking to region 3 while playing region 1 is fine
