Does the Digi 002 work with the eMac? 

Whats up everyone, I'm a recording engineer student and I'm trying to put together a home studio. I'm a newbie to the digidesign world, and I just wanted to hear some feedback from the Digi 002 users/owners. Please tell me about your likes and dislikes, or your/the pros and cons of the system. And I also wanted to know if the Digi 002 system is compatible with the eMac containing a 700Mhz and a G4 processor. And please give me some advice on which Mac computers I should look into buying because I would like to have the option of recording a whole band and I am leaning towards getting the 002 and the eMac, or even the new Powerbook or obviously the PowerMacG4 but those computers are quite expensive compared to the eMac.

I am glad to hear that someone is. I knew it would work but Digi doesn't seem to know the eMac even is out there. :-) It is a great machine for the money. I am thinking about that for my next machine.

This page should give you the info you need on compatability of 002 with different Mac's: All of your other questions can be answered by doing a search of the DUC's database and spending some time reading past discussions. I recommend doing that first, then asking specific questions based on what you learn. You should be aware the the 002 currently doesn't work with the new software (ProTools 6) that is OSX compatible. If you are thinking of buying a new computer that only boots in OSX and not in OS9 you won't be able to use it with the 002 for a while. The new ProTools 6 software for 002's is scheduled for release some time later this year. That said, if you are a beginner the 002 will be more than enough power for you for many years. Do your research, make an educated purchase and enjoy.

I'm running 002 on an eMac with no problems.
