Hi, Just finished creating my first SVCD (using DVD2SVCD). I now have two very large MPEG files with 2 audio tracks and subtitles. The problem is the MPEGS are way to large for my 700 mb CDs. I tried using TMPEnc to create 3 shorter MPGs, but lost one audio track and the subtitles. Is there a tool that I can use to shorten the length of the MPG, keep my extra audio track and the subtitles? I would rather do this rather than re encode (25 hours). I also deleted all my files except the MPEGS. Thanks

how big are the mpegs ? have you ever tried 90 minuts cds ? to be honest with only the mpeg files i dont know any tool able to make what you whant... probably you will have to reencode the movie again it seams you have a slow machine and you are encoding with multipass vrb, why dont you try to encode in one pass cbr , but remember that the bitrate must be high and you will use at lest one more cd.

I encoded with 1 pass CBR. I guess I have a slow machine. The movie was Vanilla Sky (135 mins).

If the images are 806mb's or less they will fit on a 80 minute CD-R disc. If this is the case you should read the stickies in this forum. If the files are larger then something is wrong and you should post your DVD2SVCD_Log.txt file using cut and paste, not attach. Mark

mwilliams1220, You said "I now have two very large MPEG files ..."; can you give us more details, such as the exact MB of these 2 files (i.e. 924MB, 857MB, etc.). Since you're using DVD2SVCD, it should cut exactly where you specify in the Bitrate page. The movie was Vanilla Sky (135 mins), and if you specify "Between 100 and 135 mins Use 2 CD size 800", DVD2SVCD should give 2 MPEG files that can fit within the 80-min CD. I suspect you select "Don't make Images" under the CD Image tab, and so DVD2SVCD just create 2 MPEG files and didn't create 2 Bin/Cue files ready to burn to CD. Try this: - Start VCDEasy (1.1.1 or above) - Select SVCD 1.0 - Drag and Drop your first MPEG2 file to VCDEasy. - Hit Go Button VCDEasy will now create a Bin/Cue file. At the end of this process VCDEasy will tell you how big your image is (i.e. 80:40, 79:54, etc.). This way you will now your MPEG file will fit in a 80-min CD or not. Cheers,

Thanks for the repies. The MPEGs I ended up with were 834 and 829 mbs. I was running out of hard drive space, so I did not have SVCD make images. When it was done, I moved some files around and created the images with VCDEasy (what a great program!). They were way too large. THe movie looked great and I decided to use TMPenc to make 3 shorter files that I burned as SVCDs w/VCDEasy. I lost the director's commentary and subtitles tho. I am watching it now on my stand alone and am amazed at how good it looks. THanks again.
