I have been trying for 2 straight weeks to convert an svcd to dvd for play in standalone players. I have read almost every thread here, gone to vcdhelp website.... This is what I have managed so far I got the zip files I created bin/cue files I extracted the mpeg file, it's about 850megs I downloaded windvd and they play fine there I've lost track of all the codec's and programs I've downloaded, but I believe I've got them all. When I try to load the mpeg file into dvd2avi, tmpgenc, and many others I get illegal file format and can go no further. This is where I began downloading every codec I could find, but still no solution. I then found a program called vcdgear that allows me to make an mpeg to an mpeg. Somehow this program seems to fix some of the problems. It allows me to play it in win media player. I then purchased intervideodvd producer3. This allows me to import these mpeg's to make a dvd. (The program will not accept the origional mpeg's before running them through vcdgear giving me no video found errors). I thought GREAT!!! I can finally make my dvd and I did. PROBLEM: the video plays seriously choppy, I mean really bad. I am completelly out of ideas guys and gals. I don't know if the problem is in the encoding, the making dvd or whatever else it may be. If anyone has ever successfully made dvd's from an svcd, actually 4 disks, please please help. I would so appreciate step by step instructions. thanks in advance

I'm sure this is a terrible idea, but you seem to be out of any other ideas. Try installing VCDEasy. Use the Tools section in VCD easy to either "MPEG File Scan / .dat to .mpg conversion" Perhaps it's in .dat format, but was renamed to .mpg. The MPEG File Scan option might work anyway. Just an idea, I've never had to use them, because I make my own SVCDs and don't have to unzip them.
