Questions from a new S60 owner

...and thats new to me, the S60 is a 2003 model :) I've had my 2003 S60 for about two weeks now, and got it at a very good price. It's just had it's 72000 mile service (it's actually on 78.5K) done by a local indie Volvo specialist. I have some questions : a) "Something" on the left is knocking, when on bumpy roads. I have googled, and read all about wishbones, anti-rollbar bushes, suspension, etc etc. The service chaps said they looked all over, and can see nothing wrong. All exhaust mounts are ok, all bushes ok, all wishbones are (allegedly, and I've no reason to doubt them!) ok etc. I've taken everything out of the boot (jack was loose) and it's still doing it. Any clues? b) I've noticed fuses in the fuse box for heated seats, which my car doesn't have, although it has the "blanks" for the buttons. I presume therefore the car doesnt have the elements etc, and just a lack of switches/software? c) Passenger side window auto-up. The switches have two positions, but the manual says auto-up on the passenger side front window is an "option in some countries". Can this be enabled? d) Where is the diag plug socket for the car? e) How easy is it to remove/replace the in dash cup holder? (the spring on the holding arms is defunct) f) Same for the centre console cup holder (behind gear stick) as one of the mounts has snapped on the flip up cover so it wobbles (found one on eBay but not sure how to get it out) g) And last, and by all means least - the centre console pen holder is missing the clip which holds the pen (the panel is there). Anyone know where I can get one from? :) Cheers all! Pete

a, these are the bits that normally do the knocking if not suspect shocks. no. 16 front suspension anti-roll bar drop link. no. 15 rear " " " " " b, If they were not fitted at the factory heated seats cannot be retro fitted. c, Again if not from factory cannot be enabled. d, OBD socket under flap next to your right knee area drivers side. e, The ratchet effect not working on the in-dash cup-holder is a known issue and usually cannot be repaired and the new ones don't have it, instead they now have rubber 'lips' arround the edge that fits any size of cup. These can be bought and retro fitted to the old cup-holder but are very expensive for what they are. The cupholder itself is held to the side of the radio by one plastic spring clip top and bottom but behind the 'pop' out bit. It can be removed without removing the stereo. 15 is the cup-holder, ignore 14 as this box can be instead of CH and 26 is the bracket that secures the stereo and CH. f, you have to remove the centre console from the car as this cup-holder set is clipped in from underneath. g, pen holder from Volvo dealer only unless you can find second hand looks as though you have to have the complete panel part no.8650365

c) Passenger side window auto-up. The switches have two positions, but the manual says auto-up on the passenger side front window is an "option in some countries". Can this be enabled? On 2004 models which yours is they removed the auto but after complaints brought it back on the 2005 model. The 2004 model is the only model to not have auto up on the passenger side window. Something I find annoying. If I bought another S60 it wouldn't be the 2004 model again. But once I have a car the next car is always something different. You may say yours is a 2003 model, thats the year registration, the model year comes out a year before the same year registration.
