Stop Markers, useful?

Often I want Reaper to play up to a certain point and then just stop there. Currently I achieve this with SWS extensions and a marker with the name "!1016"; here 1016 is the code for the Playback Stop action. This works, but I have of course to manually enter the code, and would liek an easier way to manage this. Would it not be good to have either: 1. Stop Markers, predefined markers that stop playback when they are reached, or 2. The possibility to define custom named markers to just add with a key press, as ordinary markers but with pre-defined name (such as !1016). EDIT: Maybe there's another way to do this. If so, please enlighten me.

Good news :) This is possible with the time selection, there is a option to have reaper stop at the right side of the time selection when cycle on the transport is turned off. You could even have this on a key command.

Lord this would be great. There are gobs of people still using Tascam MX2424's for shows for this reason alone. A simple 'Stop Playback at Markers' option would be GREATLY welcomed for those of us using Reaper for multitrack playback for shows. Seriously. It's a single menu item and like 3 lines of code AT MOST. I could have sold like 3 pro licenses this week alone to sound techs I work with looking for THIS EXACT THING. And doing it by means of the pre-suggested extension is clunky and hackish. How do we make this an official FR? JK

SWS should be in charge of this. I guess adding this to ReaConsole would save the day. "SWS: Open console with '!' to create a marker action" And then you add whatever you want in reaconsole_customcommands.txt to make whatever marker actions you need (for example, !1014, !40924, whatever). Restart Reaper and you have your custom markers available as a newly compiled action!

Except that I'd rather not have any text in my markers other than the cue name. Adding additional text to every single marker, again, while may functionally work, is not elegant, and relying on such a hack in the middle of million-dollar-shows is not something I feel comfortable with. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely appreciate the third-party extensibility of Reaper. I use plenty of it in the studio on a daily basis. This is just a simple option that should be part of the playback engine, and as such will most definitely open up additional revenue streams for sales of this software, once word gets out. Except I think that SWS implementation might be more flexible than it seems at first. SWS might add the option to hide the command number (!1016) and then have the marker named normally. You could combine several actions in a row when using ReaConsole, making it very, very powerful! We just need another command in the console, '!'.

If you go the 'Stop at end of time selection' route, make sure Reaper does not seek the playback when you change that. It has the option to do so.

If I termed this feature 'Play To Next Marker' how does that change things? It just becomes another play option on the transport. No special naming of markers or anything. Or Loop to next marker ?? Cheers.
