Very strange as to me but it seems there is no such function in Reaper. 'Select and go to the next item' is not the same. It can be constructed as a macros but it needs 6 steps with a a loss of time selection. Maybe this function presents in some extension (or maybe I'm stupid :))?
From the very beginning of using reaper (0.42 or so) this has me wondering. It's such an elementary/simple/standard useability feature, so why can't this be implemented? I mean, I don't want to bitch around, and I'm in no way against many of the Reaper paradigms, but small things like this make for a sometimes poor experience. And IIRC, it has been requested more than once already. Cheers Raphael ;)
There are Actions for this in REAPER already. I have my keyboard set up so ALT+Arrow Keys select previous/next items. Search the Actions Menu for "select item" and you will see actions for "Item Navigation". Create a macros that fits your work flow, and you're all set! - Mike
the problem with Reapers 'select next item' is that it also moves the edit cursor! - currently you have to do it manually. anything that basic shouldn't *require* the mouse imo...
