no spark

if the HT lead is sparking but it wont go any further then change the rest of the system. Did you change the distributor cap too? This may be damaged and preventing it from going any further. Change all 5 plugs and leads.

Yep sounds like the dist cap. There's two you can buy. One supplied with the external cover which costs slightly more or you can transfer the old cover over to your new cap with the cheaper one, and save a couple of quid. These are available at ECP.

really fed up now 

remove the centre lead from the dizzy and attach to earth, crank engine and look for spark, this will indicate if your coil is working... if you have a spark here and not at end of spark plug lead there is only a limited anount of things there could be dizzy rotor arm h/t leads if you get a spark then you are looking... plugs compression i would expect you will find an improvement with a new set of plugs cheers jod

Mate, I am a fellow taffy and I have a coil you can try no problem at all, I am breaking an 850 you see. I also have a new set of plugs which I put in the car and it never moved after! So they aint even done 1 yard!! I am a bit further accross in Pontypool but ring me on 07973559323 and we can sort something out! You could pop up and take what you want to sort her out. Owen
